So I literally have been hoarded away for the last 2 weeks, working on two major projects in my life. My album (which believe me, is close to being finished (written). I just need to find the right person to produce this. I’m really happy with the songs I have to choose from to date. Over the last 2 months, I feel like my creativity has been re-opened and I’m starting to write really freely again. The other is project I have been working on is musicboxforlife.com.
A few people emailed me in the last few days, wondering why I was doing it. What were my motives? For me it’s quite simple, I’m a musician first and foremost. It’s what I love to do, it’s why I am and who I am today. Being part of the music community isn’t just about writing songs, putting on shows, and buying music – it’s something much more than that. It IS is a community, and like any other community in this world, you have to help out as many people as possible along the way. You have to give to the community, and that is always something I have been very aware of from an early age. I’m absolutely thrilled with the way the Music Box for Life idea is literally leaping off the ground – purely because Crumlin Hospital has always been a part of my life. Any of my close friends know this. It’s such an amazing feeling to see the idea I had in my head for the last 12months literally come to life in such a short space of time. This would not have been made possible without the help of my friend, Noel Taylor.
So if you haven’t visited the website, do so now. It’s going to be great, and there’s some really great people getting involved, such as The Hothouse Flowers, Cactus World News, Colin Devlin, Luan Parle, Bill Coleman and many many more.
Now….I’m off to celebrate Christmas in July in the Blue Mountains, just outside of Sydney – in July! Who would have thunk it eh?!!?
