MINUS CIRCUS PLUS NEW EP
HIDE & SEEK RECORDED WITH HIGHLY ACCLAIMED PRODUCERS
AVAILABLE THROUGH AMAZON & ITUNES
LOS ANGELES, October 13, 2008 – Ireland native singer/songwriter Gerry Scullion a.k.a Minus Circus enlisted 11-time Grammy winner mixer/engineer Rafa Sardina (Stevie Wonder, Luis Miguel, Macy Gray) and co-producer, Cheche Alara (Christina Aguilera, Pink) for his new EP, Hide & Seek.
“I met Rafa and Cheche during a showcase in Los Angeles in 2006. Recently we gathered at After Hours Studio to work on the new songs,” says Scullion. “The result is an impeccably written and arranged pop rock collection of four songs tastefully combining the electric and the acoustic elements and offering the listener infectious melodies and performances,” says producer Sardina. ‘Revolve’ is the bittersweet and catchy opening track that sets the tone of the EP. ‘Hold on Tightly’ illustrates Gerry’s ability for writing anthemic rock tunes. By contrast ‘Good Soul/Bad Soul’ comes from a deeper and darker place. On the title track ‘Hide and Seek’ Gerry offers his take on the delicate sounds and haunting lyrics of new age of Irish song-writing.
According to producer Alara, Gerry got his wish list for the studio band for his EP. The stellar lineup includes: Peter Thorn (Chris Cornell, Linda Perry, Courtney Love), Sean Hurley (Alicia Keys, Ringo Starr, John Mayer, Vertical Horizon) and Toss Panos (Andy Summers, Steve Vai).”

Press Cuttings
“Ireland native singer-songwriter, Gerry Scullion, aka Minus Circus, enlisted 11-time Grammy winner mixer-engineer Rafa Sardina (Stevie Wonder, Luis Miguel, Macy Gray) and co-producer Cheche Alara (Christina Aguilera, Pink) for his new EP ‘Hide & Seek’. The result is a too-short taste of impressive, soaring pop songs not heard much since Oasis last hit the charts. Thankfully Scullion leaves the Gallagher brothers pretention back in the U.K., delivering instead a set of ear friendly radio fare.”

“Minus Circus is the nom de guerre of LA domiciled Irishman Gerry Scullion who trades in impeccably produced pop rock that manages to find a perfect middle ground between the electric and the acoustic. On this EP, the effortless swing of the opening track ‘Good Soul/ Bad Soul’ the gentle beauty of ‘Hide & Seek’, the addictive hook of ‘Revolve’ and the more introspective mood of ‘Hold on Tightly’ make for four different but equally enjoyable tracks.”
HOT PRESS (Ireland)
“It is altogether an engrossing EP well worth the attention of those who appreciate the merits of accessible indie-rock with a lyrical edge.”
FREQUENCY IRELAND (Ireland)
“..if you can’t decide between the vibrant band and singer-songwriter scenes in Dublin, look no further than Minus Circus, whose acoustic brand of rock perfectly blur the line between the two…”
EVENING HERALD (Ireland)
“Minus Circus? The name conjures images of a big top filled with a capacity crowd of clowns, strong men and bearded ladies with the ring inhabited by trained elephants mounted by candyfloss-brandishing children while 20 middle aged tradesmen and housewives appear from inside an impossibly small car.
Minus Circus, from a musical standpoint at least, sounds nothing like that slightly unsettling image. Gerry Scullion, the man behind the bizarre name is a 27 year old Dubliner with big ambitions. Those ambitions are plainly evident in his production team, namely Rafa Sardina and Cheche Alara who have lent their skills to acts a big as Stevie Wonder, Macy Gray, and Christina Aguilera. That makes him kind of a big deal.
His sound nestles comfortably between electric indie rocker and acoustic balladeer. From the thumping audacity of ‘Good Soul/Bad Soul’, to the moving sentimentality of ‘Hide & Seek’, he manages to balance the two styles without coming off like a one-legged tight rope walker.
This is an impressive debut and any one of the four tracks could be chart material. Roll up, roll up, there’s a circus in town.”
